The Programme
Initiatives of Change helps people to become agents of change, using their homes, through conferences, seminars, training courses, publications, music and stage productions, or some other action to address a need in their community or country.
International conferences take place annually at Caux. Asia Plateau, in India, provides seminars for Creative Leadership - especially in industry. A 12-city network in the USA, called Hope in the Cities, is creating 'honest conversations on race, reconciliation and responsibility'. Clean election campaigns have been organised in Taiwan, Brazil and Kenya. In Australia, hundreds of young people from across Asia (and beyond) have taken part in training programs for Effective Living. In Europe the Foundations for Freedom program promotes the values that undergird free societies. Through conferences worldwide, the International Communications Forum highlights the media's responsibility.
Its Organisation
Initiatives of Change operates with a minimum of structured organisation. Co-ordination and planning are maintained through an International Council, and extensive consultations and communications, at national and international levels. An international umbrella organisation, federating national bodies, is in the process of being set up. Initiatives of Change collaborates with other groups and networks. A core of fully available volunteer workers helps integrate initiatives and provide support for the programs.
Its Finances
Initiatives of Change is financed largely by contributions - in money and in kind, small or large - from individual supporters. Legal bodies exist in many countries to administer funds and property. Each initiative, each need, is approached with an expectation of sharing resources and with the faith that people acting with unselfish motives will find support.
