IofC workshop for students at AIESEC general assembly
On 19 April 2013, the IofC team-building workshop ‘Are you pulling on the same rope’ was delivered to twenty-five members of the students’ organisation AIESEC at their general assembly in Fiesch.
The workshop ‘Are you pulling on the same rope’ is the second in a series of IofC-workshops for students, which started in 2012 with the conflict-transformation workshop 'Your piece in world peace’. Developed and first implemented by Brigitt Altwegg, CAUX-IofC project manager for Switzerland, and Rainer Gude, IofC representative to the UN and international organisations in Geneva, it is aimed at increasing the students’ awareness about their own approach to and behaviour in group work and providing them with practical tools for seizing elements that influence team-productivity, understanding phases in team processes, giving constructive feedback and turning conflicts into productivity.
During the workshop, the AIESEC members brilliantly solved a practical exercise with a rope, received a theory input and participated in a team-brainstorming, a debriefing and a moment of silence. They appreciated the interactive training, rating it 4.4 (very good/ excellent) out of 5, and took with new insights and tools. Almost half of the students expect that the training will a noticeable difference in the way they live their life or do their job, a quarter considers that the impact will be been small and another quarter states that the training is likely to have a great impact.
