Foundations for Freedom

Over a thousand from Central and Eastern Europe have visited Caux since 1989. In 1994 Initiatives of Change launched the programme Foundations for Freedom, designed especially for young people from countries new to democracy. The first courses were in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Poland and Byelorussia. The programme concentrates on developing an awareness of the values, attitudes and quality of relationships needed to give stability to democratic institutions. In Britain and Switzerland there have also been opportunities for young candidates from Eastern Europe to meet political and academic leaders. ‘Foundations for Freedom’ is co-ordinated from Britain and has an international advisory board.
