Do I need a visa?
Please enquire if you need a Visa from:
- The nearest Swiss Consulate
- the Swiss Federal Office for Migration list on their website
- your travel agent.
If you need a Swiss Visa, and you are accepted as an Intern, your application to stay must reach the Conference Secretariat at least ten weeks prior to your arrival at Caux.
How do I get to Caux?
Caux is 1.5 hours by car or train from Geneva and 25 minutes from Montreux. Hourly direct trains run from Geneva Airport to Montreux from 06.07 to 23.23. The last through connection to Caux leaves Geneva Airport at 19.09. Train cost is 44 CHF one way.
Where will I stay at Caux?
Usually a shared room in Mountain House, occasionally in a nearby house if the main house is very busy. Always in a same sex room.
Will I be doing the work shift I applied for?
We try to arrange that everyone has their first choice but this is not always possible and then we try to place applicants where they seem best fitted and qualified. Successful applicants will be informed provisionally of their department before arriving in Caux. This may be subject to change.
When will I hear if my application is successful?
Only after the closing date for applications (1 February 2010) will applications be considered and a decision made. We endeavour to inform you of the result as soon as possible after that if you have been successful or not, at the lastest by the end of March. A small number of people may be kept on a short list, as some successful applicants may drop out for a number of reasons. You will also be told if your name is to be kept on this ‘Reserve’ list.
Can I stay on at Caux after being an Intern,
or arrive early?
The Intern Program may, in certain circumstances, cover the extra cost of an Intern arriving early or staying beyond the end of the dates specified for the internship. However, unless you have the prior agreement of the Interns Program to stay for a longer period, you will be required to cover the cost of any additional days. For young people from 16-23 and students the daily cost is CHF 55. For others, it is CHF 92. In all cases, the possibility of staying longer will depend on room availability.
How much does it cost to be an Intern?
The Caux Conference Centre is only possible thanks to the generous contributions in time, talent and money of many volunteers. We seek to raise money for your stay as an Intern but you will be expected to pay for your travel to and from the centre, for travel insurance and for any Visa that may be required. Any financial contribution you are able to raise for your stay will be greatly appreciated.
