Although India has one of the strongest economies in the world, the number of poor people begging on the streets is staggering. This is due to large numbers of people migrating from Indian villages to major cities with the hopes of finding jobs. When they cannot find a job, they are forced to beg.

This documentary, "Banking on Change;" is the story of one man who has set out to change the economics in the Indian villages. JS Parthiban is the manager of a bank in a Southern village in India. He encourages people to open bank accounts and to start saving money. Through micro-loans, he enables villagers to start small businesses that will not only help their families, but their communities as well.

Caux Forum speakers and participants had the opportunity to meet Parthiban and the movie's Producer and Director, Andrew Hinton from Pilgrim Films.

R. Gopalakrishnan, Executive Director of Tata Sons and Member of the Group Executive Board of tata Group, the largest privat enterprise in India, gave a Caux Lecture at the 'Trust and Integrity in the Global Economy' about the role of business in society. CAUXIofc spoke with Mr. Gopalakrishnan about his motivation to come to Caux, the role of consumer capitalism, the impact of eastern philosophy, the importance of context and the role of Tata and business in the global economy.

Rob Corcoran, National Director of Initatives of Change USA and Founder of 'Hope in the Cities', speaks about trust and four key elements that are essential for trustbuilding.

Clare Short, former Secretary of State for International Development in the UK, introduces the Caux Call to Action. Her speech addresses why such an initiative is needed and the way in which this Call to Action will be developed at the Caux Forum. She also reminded participants that we should only support and develop the Call, if we feel it will add to the momentum for change.

Otis Moss, a close colleague of Martin Luther King Jr., attended and spoke at the third annual Caux Forum for Human Security. During his presentations, he spoke of his involvement in the Civil Rights movement in the United States of America and the need for just governments around the world. In this interview, Moss stresses the importance of the Caux Call to Action.
